On Friday 18th July the Sports Day winners and House Point Winners cups were presented.
For Sports Day it was Forgiveness who won the cup and for the house points it was Kindness.

On Thursday 17th July one of our children was presented with the Sports Personality of the Year Award.
This was the first time that this award has been presented and he was a worthy winner for his great contribution to sport at St Joseph’s.

On Thursday 17th July during our Graduation Ceremony we presented the Ashley Jones Award.
This award is presented to a Year 6 pupil who has made an exceptional contribution to school life. Well done to our worthy winner!
Year 6 Leavers' Party

On Wednesday 16th July Year 6 held their special Leavers' Party.
The children had a special party in the afternoon followed by a Disco with the rest of the Key Stage 2 children.

On Tuesday 15th July Year 6 led a special Leaver’s and Confirmation Thanksgiving Mass in school.
The children remembered and celebrated their time at St Joseph’s and also received their Confirmation certificates and a little gift from the school.

On Monday 23rd June Reception class held a parent workshop to discuss the end of Early Years ELG's followed by a Guided Writing session with the children.
Year 4 and 5 Fire Safety Talk

On Thursday 19th June we had some Fire Fighters visit Years 4 and 5 to give a talk about Fire Safety.
Firemen from Dudley fire Station told us what to do if there was a fire in our home, how we should signal an emergency and why it is dangerous to Prank Call a Fire Station.
Anti-Bullying Week

Whole school came together to open Anti-bullying week.
We watched a clip from the runners up of Britain’s Got Talent ‘Bars and Melody’ who performed a song about how bullying can affect people.
First Holy Communion

On Sunday 8th June the children from Year 3 received their First Holy Communion in our school Parish Church of Our Blessed Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury.
It was a lovely and very special Mass. All of the children looked very smart and the church was beautifully decorated with bows and flowers.
A lovely day was had by all.
Praying the Rosary
The whole school and parents prayed a decade of the Rosary together.

Throughout the month of May the children at St Joseph’s have been learning more about the Rosary.
The children have been learning about all of the Mysteries of the Rosary and praying the Rosary together both in their classrooms and together as a whole school.
The children know so much about Our Lady, why she was special and why we honour her.

On Tuesday 20th May St Joseph’s took part in a May Procession to honour Mary. The Procession took place at the beginning of Mass where all of the Year 3 children placed beautiful flowers on the altar to show Mary how special we think she is. The children also crowned Mary with a beautiful crown of flowers.
All of the flowers were donated by the children and their families and made an absolutely beautiful display.
Vocations Week

On Monday 19th May the children at St Joseph’s celebrated the beginning of Vocations Week in school.
The children will be learning about the different vocations that people have been called to by God. Throughout the week the children will have visitors in school that include: a Nurse, Chief Radiographer, Marketing Manager, Sisters of Sion, Fr Emmanuel, a High Court Judge, Midwife and many, many more.
The children were all given a special badge to wear in school this week.

On Tuesday 6th May after Mass in school Reception class visited our Church – Our Blessed Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury to meet Fr Emmanuel and have a good look around.
The children saw all of the new paintings which have been completed in the Church and listened very carefully to all of the things Father had to tell them.
Early Years Meet the Dental Nurse

On Wednesday 30th April the children in Nursery and Reception were visited by the Dental Nurse.
The children learned all about how important it is to brush your teeth to keep them nice and clean. The children were also given a free toothbrush and some toothpaste to take home.

Children from Years 3 to 6 performed at the St Patricks Day Celebration in West Bromwich on Saturday 22nd March, performing two dances to modern Irish pop hits, reading poems they had written themselves and singing and dancing to a traditional Irish song Tell Me Ma.
On Monday 24th March, the children then performed to the school and their parents during the morning assembly.

On Thursday 20th March Reception class took part in a road safety lesson.
The children discussed the importance of being safe when crossing the road and the importance of looking and listening carefully.
The children then put their skills into practice by going on a walk around the local area and demonstrating how to cross the road safely.
St Joseph's Day Assembly

On Wednesday 19th March St Joseph’s held a special assembly to celebrate St Joseph’s Day.
During the assembly the children discussed why our school was named after St Joseph and how St Joseph was such a good, kind husband to Mary and Earthly father to Jesus. The children also watched a short cartoon about the life of St Joseph.
Finally to complete the celebrations the children all received a little treat to eat in celebration of the special day.

Year 3 children performed at the Vivo 4 Choir Festival at Dudley Town Hall on Friday 14th March.
It was a fantastic experience for the children who had a big audience to perform to including lots of moms and dads!

On Friday 14th March Reception class performed their class assembly.
The assembly was about World Health Day and the children gave us lots of ways to stay healthy; including eating and drinking the right things and making sure we keep our teeth and bodies healthy too by visiting the dentist and doctor.
Football Match Report

On Tuesday 11th March our school football team travelled to Maidensbridge Primary school to compete in our first match of the season.
After some tough tackling and early opportunities, we took the lead with a great strike from Namik. Maidensbridge fought hard and managed to get back into the game with two goals either side of half term. With five minutes to go we scored the equaliser through Cian to make the score 2-2 and come away with a well-earned point.
The boys played extremely well and never gave up. Man of the match was Victor.

5 and 6 March 2014
On Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th March Year 4 held their parent workshops.
Parents were invited to take part in a lesson with their child and then have a relaxed chat and hot drink with the teacher after the lesson to discuss the learning the children took part in.
Cycling Skills Training

On Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th March, Years 3 and 5 took part in Cycling Skills Training.
Year 3 completed Cycling Skills Level 1 Training which meant they had to complete a variety of skills on the school playground.
Year 5 children completed the Cycling Skills Level 2 course which meant they had to learn some skills on the playground and then apply them out on the road.
The children were so sensible during the training and learnt a lot about how to be safe when on their bikes.
Sacrament of Reconciliation

On Tuesday 4th March Year 3 children took part in a very special Mass celebrated by Father Emmanuel.
Following the Mass the children received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.

On Tuesday 4th March Fr Emmanuel went to talk to the children in EYFS about the important work he does for the Church and the community.
The children really enjoyed spending time with Father, and listening to all of the wonderful things he does to help others.
Pancake Flip

On Shrove Tuesday we had our annual Pancake Flip. Every class in the school completed the assault course whilst attempting to flip their pancake as many times as possible.
There were many comedy moments with pancakes flying everywhere!
Everyone had a great time and particular credit goes to the year five young leaders who organised the event and helped all the participants to experience a wonderful day.

On Tuesday 4th March 2014 a group of talented athletes from Years 5 and 6 attended the Dudley Schools Sports Association Cross Country competition at Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club.
There were some fantastic performances and all the children gave it everything they had. It was great to see our school competing against children from across the borough, and doing so well.

Safer Internet Day
Year 6 children created role plays concerning cyber-bullying.

St Joseph’s took part in Safer Internet day on Tuesday 11th February.
All of the children from Nursery to Year 6 took part in age appropriate activities, thinking and learning about ways in which to enjoy the internet but remembering the importance of staying safe when online.

On Tuesday 11th February Year 5 put on a special performance for their parents and the other Key Stage 2 children.
During this school year Year 5 have been learning how to play the guitar during their weekly whole class music tuition.

On Monday 10th February Lucy Davies from Father Hudson visited the Year 6 pupils to explain a little about her work.
The children looked at case studies of people who were less fortunate than themselves and worked together to plan a fund raising event to take place during the season of Lent this year.

St Joseph’s was very fortunate to be able to take part in the Little Foodies festival at the Merry Hill Centre during the week beginning 3rd February.
All of the children in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 travelled to Merry Hill on the bus and took part in a healthy food workshop. Year 2 learnt how to make smoothies, Year 3 looked at how herbs can add flavour to dished, Year 4 made healthy pizzas and finally Year 5 made burritos.

On Tuesday 10th December Miss Wisniewski took the St Joseph’s Choir to sing at the Station Hotel in Dudley for the Parishioners Christmas Lunch.
Fr Emmanuel and the Parishioners really enjoyed the singing and very kindly gave the children a donation of money which we have added to the charity money we have collected during Advent this year.

On Friday 6th December Miss Wisniewski took the St Joseph’s Catholic School Choir to Russells Hall Hospital Dudley to sing some Christmas carols.
The children went to the hospital on the bus and did a great job of singing Christmas carols and playing musical instruments to give everyone a bit of Christmas cheer!

On Monday 18th November St Joseph’s launched Anti-Bullying week - 'The Future is Ours. Safe, Fun and Connected'.
To start our week we began with the first of two Who Wants to be a Millionaire episodes where our anti-bullying co-ordinators Mrs Hancox and Mrs Cheema are put into the ‘hot-seat’ to answer questions about staying safe, how to help others and how to deal with bullying.
All of the children joined in the assembly and knew all of the answers!
During the rest of the week the children will be completing anti-bullying work, some children will be taking part in ZAP training and drama work, finishing on Friday with our special assemblies and the final episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire!

On Friday 11th October Reception class had their special Harvest Liturgy and invited their parents to join.
Children and parents prayed together, sang songs, acted out the time of harvest and drew a harvest leaf to add to the prayer display.

On Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th October, our parents joined us for Phonics activities.
We sorted words according to the sounds that they included. We also made our own sounds dice. We rolled the dice and wrote words with that sound in them. The challenge was to fill the grid with words.
