St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Hillcrest Road, Dudley

Pupil Leaders

School Council

Our School Council consists of two representatives from Years 1 to 6. We meet at least every half term to discuss issues that affect us in school and share ideas about things we want to change or improve in our school.

We get involved in most decisions made in school. It is our school and we take responsibility for making sure that every child is heard. We even get involved in appointing new staff!

House Captains

All of the members of our school are divided into houses which take their names from qualities the School Council felt were important for our school to recognise – Truth, Forgiveness, Kindness, Respect and Equality.

In Year 6 House Captains are chosen to lead each house.

The House Captains collect the house points from each class weekly and these are reported in our Friday Assembly. At the end of every term the house with the most House Points wins the trophy for the term!

Fairtrade Committee

St. Joseph's is committed to the work of Fairtrade.

We understand why Fairtrade is important and our part in helping the world become a fairer place. We have a Fairtrade tuck-shop which is run by the children and it is very successful. We have recently been awarded Fairtrade Status for this Academic Year where we have shown how committed we are through the work in and outside of the classroom.

Mission Team

At St Joseph’s we have two members of the Mission Team in each class.

The Mission Team are divided into two groups – Catholic Life Evaluators and Collective Worship Evaluators. The children work together and with the teachers to evaluate Catholic Life and Collective Worship to make sure that at St Joseph’s it is the best that it can be.

Mini Vinnies

Mini Vinnies are a group of children who work together to complete charitable work. The children meet regularly and discuss ways to help others in our local community. The children have visited Broadway Halls to help support older members of our community. The children also make regular trips to the local foodbank too.

Creation Guardians

The Creation Guardians are very active within our school. Children work together to look at ways to help look after our planet – as Pope Francis called us to do in his encyclical Laudato Si. The children look and monitor the schools use of light, water and energy along with encouraging active recycling throughout the school.

SAS

The SAS (safeguarding and Safety Team) work together to ensure that the playground is a safe and happy place for everyone. They do regular safety checks and are also visible on the playground if anyone needs help and advice.
