Event - Disability Awareness Day

5 June 2013

On Wednesday 5th June Paul Hunt visited school to speak to the children about disabilities and how he has succeeded in his life of sport.

Paul works for ‘The Albion Foundation' which promotes inclusion in sport for all. The childrne were informed about Paul's past and the illness which he was born with, which is Sacral Agenesis.

Paul explained about different disabilities and how a disability doesn't stop anyone from taking part in sporting activities. He also told the children how he had found love for sport at a young age, including football, hockey and marathons.

He asked for help from the children to show how he can play football with others just like anyone else. We were lucky to be able to take part in some of the activities.

Paul demonstrated how people with poor sight are able to play football, although it did appear to be a little bit challenging!

Everyone was inspired by Paul's visit and we have already booked him to return to school to teach the children some of the games played in the Paralympics.
