Event - Brilliant to be in Britain Celebration

5 July 2015

On Friday 5th July St Joseph’s celebrated the end of our Brilliant to be in Britain week by holding a special celebration.

During the week all of the children had welcomed visitors into school to talk about Islam, Judaism, Sikhism and Hinduism as well as learning about the British values of Justice, Democracy and Rule of Law.

The theme to the celebration was 70 Years Since VE Day and the children learned about the end of the second World War and we took a look back through the decades since Victory in Europe in 1945.

Nursery started us off in the 1940’s by singing You are my Sunshine.
Reception took us to the 1950’s and performed I Just Wanna be your Teddy Bear by Elvis.

Year 1 performed All You Need is Love by The Beetles to celebrate the 1960’s.
Year 2 performed Boney M’s Daddy Cool from the 1970’s!

Year 3 were Dancing on the Ceiling in the 1980’s.
Year 4 performed You Can’t Touch This by MC Hammer for the 1990’s.

Year 5 performed Show me the way to Amarillo for the 00’s.
Finally Year 6 performed a medley of music from British artists of different religions and ethnicities.
