On Friday 6th July the whole school came together in the morning and in the afternoon to watch dance performances from all of the children in the school – EYFS and KS1 in the morning and KS2 children in the afternoon.
The performances were all based around the World Cup which matched perfectly to our Brilliant in Multicultural Britain focus week in school. During the week each class has been learning about the British Values of Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Respect and Tolerance along with the faiths of Christianity, Islam, Sikhism and Judaism.
At the beginning of each gathering we shared a lovely video as our prayer. The video shared images and worlds from the football field – passion, victory, awe etc and then linked this to the Passion of Christ, the awe of his miracles and his sacrifice and victory for us. The children shared some wonderful comments about the video – ‘The people on the football field are determined to win and we are determined to follow Jesus’ and ‘Yes, the World Cup is the biggest thing in the world, but Jesus’ sacrifice for us is the biggest thing of all time.’
