Event - The Mayor Visits our Recycling Assembly

29 November 2011

Our school is working hard to maintain its Fairtrade and Eco School status and has been looking at how we can bring sustainability into the curriculum.

Year 4 have been looking at recycling over the past few weeks, and performed a special all-singing, all-dancing 'Reduce, reuse, recycle' assembly to the rest of the school. They showed us how dangerous dropped litter can be to animals, how to separate our waste so it can be properly recycled, and even linked the assembly to their Tudor studies, comparing differences in waste management then and today!

We were very privileged that the Mayor of Dudley and his Consort were able to enjoy our assembly, and share with us their fascinating first hand knowledge of the recycling that takes place in our borough.

Sorting the waste into compost, general waste.

The mayor and consort enjoyed teaching us about the recycling that takes place in our borough.

The mayor and consort were impressed with everything the children knew about how to sort the waste!

The children perform their 'reduce, reuse, recycle' song.

The children were very excited to meet the mayor and had lots of questions.

Year 4 had a special visitor from Dudley council who taught them lots of facts about waste. This gave them great ideas for the assembly!
